wana get involved? you can help in a load of areas..

Contents

[edit] general playing around

making prototypes, exploring... sticking in more functions, making different shapes, actually making something usable out of this

[edit] funding

I need some money to do things like buy materials for more prototypes, outsource software and hardware contracts, eat, etc.

If you have links / contacts / spare cash... ;)

[edit] rewriting the code for Linux

[edit] pcb design

is anyone handy with designing pcbs? protel? I would really like to get all the circuitry on to a few small boards

[edit] documenting everything

on a website with forums so we can all see what is going on

[edit] publicising

it is really important to get this out as fast as possible - to get it printed in magazine articles and newspapers, hard copies. because somewhere along the line someone is sure to try to rip it off, and with a lot of articles in print from different sources it will be easier to burn them down.

[edit] redesigning the gyroscopes from scratch

I am using old technology from GyroPoint. this makes for some really messy software - I have to separate incoming mail signals and extract those from the GyroMouse. this creates a performance hit. also it makes for tricky coding in every operating system I wish to run in - this would quickly become a nightmare. so I need some way of feeding the gyro-signals into a MicroController. somehow I don't think this will be as simple as feeding the gyros into the ADCs of the MCU and integrating. I think there will be loads of fiddly analogue electronics work and a few noise elimination and drift correction algorithms. this is far too big a project for me to get into. but a few people who know what they are doing ...

[edit] voice recognition

It is a dream of mine to integrate voice recognition with a hand held Controller. imagine, you hold down one button and you can dictate. holding down another one you can a word. with another you can speak a command ( the moment you press it all available commands would show on the screen ). also navigating through and selecting text would be done on the Controller, as would selecting ' next best match '.

this is quite a project - especially for Linux where the best speech-recognition engine is far from user friendly.

maybe we can start with Vista speech API

I should say - I have pretty severe RSI ( repetitive strain injury) so I have to keep my computer use down to a minimum.

so if it looks like I am being terse, I am probably doing this.
